GARDEN & GREENHOUSE

Naturegarden Slatuinen is an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city.
The plants and animals resume their own world and people take a step back.
Yet the tension between man and nature can clearly be felt in this garden, which is sandwiched between the residential blocks.
Barbara Damen depicted this tension in two installations:
In the garden she invited birds to perch on hands of bird food and fat (like a fat ball), which were hung in a large tree.
During the exhibition the hands were slowly eaten and damaged, as a result of which they gradually changed character.

In the greenhouse an organism is growing, surrounded by instruments, a monitor and the artificial environment of the greenhouse.
